Dear Friends,
Perhaps you remember the story of Abraham’s nephew, Lot, who chose to take his family into the wicked cities of Sodom and Gomorrah. The men living there had become desperately depraved, burning with lust for each other. Jehovah told Abraham that their sin was so grievous that the Lord decided to rain utter destruction upon them. Abraham pleaded with the Lord on behalf of the people, but the patriarch could not find even ten righteous men in either of the cities to justify mercy. (Genesis 18:33)
The story continues in Genesis 19:1-5, as follows:
…Two angels arrived at Sodom in the evening, and Lot was sitting in the gateway of the city. When he saw them, he got up to meet them and bowed down with his face to the ground. “My lords,” he said, “please turn aside to your servant’s house. You can wash your feet and spend the night and then go on your way early in the morning.”
“No,” they answered, “we will spend the night in the square.”
“But (Lot) insisted so strongly that they went with him and entered his house. He prepared a meal for them, baking bread without yeast, and they ate. Before they had gone to bed, all the men from every part of the city of Sodom — both young and old — surrounded the house. They called to Lot, “Where are the men who came to you tonight? Bring them out to us so that we can have sex with them.”
It was a horrible scene. The angels saved Lot and his family, but not before he offered an alternative for the sex-crazed mob. Incredibly, Lot went outside to meet the men and said, “No my friends, don’t do this wicked thing. Look, I have two daughters who have never slept with a man. Let me bring them out to you, and you can do what you like with them. But don’t do anything to these men, for they have come under the protection of my roof.”
I find this to be one of the most troubling Scriptures in the entire Bible. It reveals Lot’s complete disregard for the preciousness of girls and women. Can you imagine a father submitting his innocent daughters, who were unfamiliar with the ways of godless men, to be raped, manhandled and murdered? The angels apparently rescued them, but Lot would have sacrificed them to save the two visitors.
Modernists, libertarians and atheists today recognize no condemnation of sexual perversion in the Bible. However, this historical account illustrates how God views it. The outrageous behavior of the wicked men of Sodom and Gomorrah sealed their doom. Fire and brimstone fell from the sky on both cities and utterly destroyed them. Henceforth, men who commit homosexual acts have been called “Sodomites,” although that term has become politically offensive since the U.S. Supreme Court legalized and protected
sexual perversion.
The story of Abraham and Lot also illustrates how entire societies can become so corrupted by evil that divine judgment eventually destroys them, or they simply fade away. It happened to the people of Greece, Rome, Pompeii and other cities and cultures where wickedness became the order of the day. One thing is certain. God is the holy Sovereign Lord of all heaven and earth, and He will not be mocked. His justice will prevail when unrestrained lust, violence, perversion, and other forms of grievous sin have run their course.
How can we misinterpret the meaning of Romans 1:24-27, as follows:
Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another. They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator — who is forever praised. Amen.
Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones. In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion.
Why have I chosen to recount this biblical story from so long ago? Because I am convinced that America and other Western Nations are sliding in the same direction. We have not yet reached the depravity of Sodom and Gomorrah, but that appears to be where we are headed. Judge Robert Bork, the brilliant jurist who was shamefully denied a seat on the Supreme Court, wrote a book about this danger 18 years ago. It was titled, Slouching Towards Gomorrah. I think he had it right.
Many influential men and women of the judiciary are leading us toward perdition. One of them is Judge Richard Posner, a federal judge sitting on the Seventh U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals. He became a hero of the pro-gay marriage community by helping to “discover” a provision in the Constitution that laid the foundation for legalizing same-sex marriage. The American people in thirty-one states voted that their Constitutions would henceforth define marriage as being exclusively between one man and one woman. Posner and other imperious judges and Justices had a better idea. They simply overrode the will of the people and issued “court made law.” Whatever happened to Lincoln’s speech at Gettysburg in which he said this government is designed to be “Of the people, for the people, and by the people?” It’s no longer true.
Judge Posner has another idea that is breathtaking. He suggested in his book, Economic Analysis of the Law, 2011, that government should begin issuing “rape licenses” to men, because, he said, “The ‘right to rape’ exceeds the victim’s physical and emotional pain.” Believe it or not, that is the idiocy of the judge’s reasoning.
In another shocking example of corruption in modern-day America, the Lesbian, Bisexual, Gay and Transgendered movement (LGBT), is pushing hard for a mandated “gay history curriculum” in America’s public schools. It is already in place in California, (does that surprise you?) and it is making headway in the state of Massachusetts. LBGT’s goal is to make the curriculum mandatory in every school in the country. This is the way the plan is described by “Mass Resistance:”
“Gay history” is an important psychological tool that the homosexual movement uses to convince schoolchildren that homosexual behavior is a normal positive influence. By making it part of the school curriculum—with lectures, exams, term papers, etc., it becomes ingrained in kids’ minds. Thus, students would never question its legitimacy—and legitimacy is an obsessive goal of the homosexual movement.
Perhaps more disturbing, “gay history” introduces deviant figures such as Harvey Milk
(a sexual predator of teenage boys,) pro-NAMBLA activist Harry Hay, and other gay pioneers (some of whom were pornographers) as legitimate historical figures worthy of admiration. Plus it often teaches kids the political “quackery” that famous people such as Eleanor Roosevelt, Julius Caesar, and even Abraham Lincoln were homosexual.
Well, how about it, parents? Are you willing to send your children off to a public school that is required by law to teach LBGT propaganda to students? I pray not. Are you concerned enough to stand for righteousness and build a wall of protection around your family? Do you know that this great institution is crumbling, and that children will be the victims of its demise? Mrs. Phyllis Schlafly, who has fought boldly and passionately for traditional marriage and the welfare of children, has just published a book titled, Who Killed The American Family? It is dying in her view. We can all see evidences of it.
Huge numbers of good men and women must rise to defend the wisdom of the Judeo-Christian system of values and beliefs, especially where our kids are concerned. Are you among them? Do you have the courage to shield your family members and to counter the lies they are being told? Is it more important to you than your work, or your social life, or your entertainment? That is the commitment necessary to save them.
I will tell you personally the preservation of the family is the Cause for which I was born. I knew it when I was 20 years old. Today, I have a continuing, unrelenting burden for today’s children and young adults who are being warped and twisted by those who would “fundamentally change” the world in which they are growing up. Everything we have known and valued is being swept away.
It was this concern that led me five years ago to begin working on a second video series. The first was recorded in 1978, and was seen by 80 million people. That was the first “bookend” of my professional life. Now I have just finished the second, called Building a Family Legacy. A new book has also been released called, Your Legacy, The Greatest Gift. They are linked but not identical.
These are not merely the latest in a series of family-related materials I have written in the past 44 years. This is the cry of my heart. I consider this book and video series to be the capstone of everything I have written and spoken. I’m referring to the primacy of winning your children and subsequent generations to Christ, and giving absolute priority to that task. It is time now to put that effort into proper perspective.
The theme of parental evangelism, also called Apologetics for Children, is the essence of my new eight-video series. I have poured my very soul into it, with much prayer and forethought. These eight messages were delivered at Dr. Jim Garlow’s Skyline Church in San Diego, California, Dr. John Hagee’s Cornerstone Church in San Antonio, Texas, and Greg Laurie’s huge Harvest Fellowship Church in Riverside and Irvine, California. Though the titles are familiar from my books, they are now presented in the context of evangelism. They include three films from the 1978 series, which have been remastered for today’s audiences, and five new messages.
