In this week's episode of Defending Faith, Family, and Freedom with Gary Bauer, senior vice president of public policy at the James Dobson Family Institute, Bauer recounts Vice President Kamala Harris’s very bad week. Harris faced significant backlash last week, as her campaign efforts coincided with the third anniversary of the Abbey Gate bombing (outside of the Kabul Airport) in Afghanistan—a tragic event during the Biden-Harris administration that resulted in the deaths of 13 American servicemen and women. While Harris was on the campaign trail, former President Donald Trump attended a wreath-laying ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery, invited by the Gold Star families of those killed in the bombing. When images of Trump at the ceremony went viral, Harris criticized him for politicizing the event, sparking outrage from the grieving families. They condemned her remarks as “heinous, vile, and disgusting” and praised Trump for offering them solace during their time of grief. Kelly Barnett, whose son was among the fallen, defended Trump’s actions, highlighting his ongoing support. Harris’s failure to acknowledge the names of the deceased has only deepened the families' anger.
