Critical Issue #2 - The Sanctity of Human Life

From conception to our final breath on this earth, all life is a sacred gift from Almighty God. It must be cherished in our hearts and protected through our actions, both in our capacity as individuals and also through our laws and policies as a nation.

The Problem

A significant portion of our society no longer understands or acknowledges the sanctity of human life.

America has the blood of innocents on its hands. Since 1973, more than 60 million babies have been murdered through abortion and countless lives have been cut short by euthanasia. This is the most tragic holocaust in the history of the world! Some states have even passed laws allowing wounded and suffering infants to lie alone on porcelain trays after somehow surviving unsuccessful abortions. They will die without the comfort of their mothers' breasts.

Beyond all reason, we compel our health care professionals to participate in the taking of human lives, and we fail to pass laws offering even the most basic of protections for the unborn, the disabled, or the sick. Consider these examples:

  • One political party has put forth a platform calling for the legalization of abortion through all nine months of pregnancy.
  • In the United States, approximately 70% of unborn babies diagnosed with Down syndrome are aborted.
  • A 2018 Gallup poll found that 72 percent of Americans think euthanasia should be legal.

The Solution

Our Declaration of Independence proclaims the inalienable right of “life,” but too often our government officials fail to uphold even this most basic ideal. We need politicians who will stand for life and policies that protect life. But we also need a societal change of heart. One by one, the lies of abortion and euthanasia have been exposed. Now the truth about human life must be proclaimed. The church must find its voice.

Take Action

Become a voice for life by offering love and support for single moms, funding or volunteering at local pregnancy centers, and demonstrating in word and deed that the elderly, the sick, and the disabled are all precious in the sight of God.

Second, learn about the political party platforms and candidates for office. In every election, vote for public servants who respect the sanctity of life at every stage, and who aren’t afraid to govern accordingly.
