Alison Centofante and Joseph Backholm, both contributors to the Dr. James Dobson Family Institute (JDFI), interview Dr. Del Tackett. Author and creator of The Truth Project, and now The Engagement Project, believes the devastation we see in cultures worldwide is the direct result of the transcendence to homo Deus (Latin for god man), where individuals see themselves as little gods. There is no objective truth. Instead, today we are empowered to express our own truth. This incredibly selfish thinking has led to a society unable to define men and women. Dr. Tackett also suggests that believing that the Church must keep politics at arm’s length shows a misunderstanding of what the Bible teaches. The Bible is replete with highly political characters and concepts, resulting in the healthy governance of highly-functioning nations. According to Dr. Tackett, compassion is the primary ethic that drives culture today, but it’s a malevolent one. He explains that this new empathy in the culture is demonic. It contributes to children and adults who are incapable of functioning under adversity.
Suffering is biblical, says Dr. Tackett, and often results in corrective action that is good for us. It also causes the Christian to draw closer to God and contributes to spiritual growth. Dr. Tackett also addresses a common argument from the Left that Jesus was a Socialist. Not surprisingly, he says Socialism has its roots in Marxism. He describes Carl Marx as anti-God, anti-family, anti-church, and anti-labor. Marx held that an all-powerful state would distribute wealth equally. “In world history, Marxism never accomplished this. But it has resulted in the deaths of more than 100 million people,” says Dr. Tackett. Watch the full video interview for more.
