Joseph Backholm and Alison Centofante, Dr. James Dobson Family Institute (JDFI) contributors, interview Katy Faust, founder and president of the children's rights nonprofit Them Before Us. Faust is the author of three books, the latest of which is Pro-Child Politics. Faust speaks about her personal life experience with her mom's gay partner and how this influenced her worldview. Since Faust was ten years old, her mother has been in a same-sex relationship. Faust emphatically states that marriage and family are not about adults. It's not about one's identity, desires, feelings, or validation. "Marriage is primarily about justice for children," says Faust. Civil law states that kids have a right to a mother and father, Faust adds.
Faust believes a trifecta movement from the Left in the U.S. has existed between culture, law, and technology. "This has transformed children into accessories that are to be acquired, awarded, and obtained by adults who have the means to purchase them," she says. According to Faust, society has allowed dark forces worldwide to redefine the traditional family. Suppose people are not on board with this. In that case, these individuals will be canceled or, worse, have their lives destroyed by an administrative state that labels this dissent as bigoted and discriminatory. The result of this state-sponsored intimidation strategy is that good people know better and stay silent. "When was the last time you heard a national politician publicly and forcefully say, 'Children need a mom and a dad?'" asks Faust.
So, which party platform is better on issues of family and raising healthy and whole children? Faust favors the GOP for their pro-family, pro-child policies—culturally and economically. While the Democratic Party says they support children, their policies end up damaging kids. Citing Democrat positions on culture, economics, and national issues including diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), energy, environmental, social, and governance (ESG), immigration, and gender ideology, progressives are dangerously wrong on all of them, says Faust.
