Phyllis Schlafly and Suzanne Venker

Host: Dr. James Dobson

July 16, 2024

On today’s edition of Family Talk, Dr. James Dobson talks with the late Phyllis Schlafly, who was a renowned leader in the conservative movement in America, and her niece, Suzanne Venker, about their book entitled, The Flipside of Feminism: What Conservative Women Know – and Men Can’t Say. They discuss the fallout our society has faced since the feminist movement of the 1960s and 70s, and how it has continued to deconstruct the family unit today. Romans 1:18 says, “For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who by their unrighteousness suppress the truth.” Be encouraged to stand firm on biblical principles and speak up for family values.

Phyllis Schlafly and Suzanne Venker

Phyllis Schlafly was an author, attorney and conservative activist. She wrote and edited 27 books, and was recognized as a prominent leader of the conservative movement in America after the publication of her best-selling book in 1964, A Choice Not an Echo. Phyllis became a leading pro-family advocate with the founding of her national volunteer organization, Eagle Forum, in 1972. Her relentless efforts for more than ten years helped defeat the Equal Rights Amendment, which was a major victory over the radical feminist movement of the 1960s and 70s. Phyllis was appointed by President Ronald Reagan to serve on the Commission on the Bicentennial of the U.S. Constitution from 1985-1991. She testified before numerous congressional and state legislative committees on constitutional, national defense and family issues. She received her J.D. from Washington University Law School and her master’s degree in political science from Harvard University. Phyllis passed away in 2016 and is survived by her six grown children.

Suzanne Venker is a speaker, certified relationship coach and the author of six books that challenge feminist narratives surrounding men, women, work and family. She is also the host of The Suzanne Venker Show. She has written numerous articles for publications such as Time, Parents, the New York Post, and the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. She has also been featured in The Wall Street Journal, as well as Newsweek, Forbes, The Economist, The Huffington Post, and London's Daily Mail. Suzanne and her husband have two grown children and make their home in St. Louis, Missouri.
