Secretary of State Mike Pompeo

Mike Pompeo is the 70th United States Secretary of State. Prior to that, he was director of the Central Intelligence Agency from January 2017 to April 2018. As a Republican U.S. Congressman, he represented Kansas’ 4th District and served on the House Intelligence Committee, the Energy and Commerce Committees, and the House Select Benghazi Committee. Prior to his time on Capitol Hill, Secretary Pompeo founded Thayer Aerospace, where he was CEO for more than a decade; and later was president of Sentry International, an oilfield equipment manufacturing and distribution company. He graduated first in his class at West Point in 1986 and was stationed as a cavalry officer at the Berlin Wall before it fell in 1991. He was a member of the 2nd Squadron, 7th Cavalry in the U.S. Army's Fourth Infantry Division. After leaving active duty, he graduated from Harvard Law School and worked as the editor of the Harvard Law Review. A devout Christian, Secretary Pompeo is married to Susan, and together they have one son, Nick.
