Dr. Byron Johnson

Dr. Byron Johnson serves as distinguished professor of the social sciences at Baylor University. In addition, he is the founding director of the Institute for Studies of Religion. Dr. Johnson is recognized as a leading authority on the scientific study of religion, as well as the efficacy of faith-based organizations, domestic violence, and criminal justice. His publications have examined the impact of faith-based programs on recidivism reduction and prisoner reentry. Dr. Johnson’s research has been used in consultation with the Department of Justice, Department of Defense, Department of Labor, and the National Institutes of Health. He is the author of several books, including More God, Less Crime, and The Quest for Purpose.
