On today’s classic edition of Family Talk, Dr. James Dobson re-visits one of his most memorable conversations with then seven-year-old, Kyle West. Kyle has cerebral palsy, but by the Lord’s design, this has not hindered his God-given purpose in life. Eleven years later, Dr. Dobson invited Kyle and his dad back to the program for a beautiful reunion to discuss all that the Lord has done in Kyle’s life. Join us and expect to have your soul rejuvenated as you listen to this joy-filled conversation.

Bob and Kyle West

Kyle West began a relationship with Dr. James Dobson at the tender age of seven when he attended a Focus on the Family picnic with his parents, when his father, Bob, was an employee at the ministry. Kyle, who was born with cerebral palsy, caught Dr. Dobson’s attention, and struck up a precocious conversation which led Dr. Dobson to invite him onto his radio program. Kyle was interviewed again by Dr. Dobson in the early days of Family Talk. He went on to receive his undergraduate degree from Patrick Henry College and his master’s degree in the classics at the University of Colorado, Boulder. Kyle then went on to receive his Ph.D., also in the classics, at the University of Pennsylvania. He is now teaching Greek Mythology at Patrick Henry College in Purcellville, Virginia.

Bob West is the executive director of Need Project, Inc., an organization with a mission to support children with special needs. He previously served at Compassion International, Telos Corporation, and Dr. James Dobson’s Family Talk. Bob and his wife, Susan, have three children and they reside in Colorado.
