On today's edition of Family Talk, Jim Cress, a certified sex addiction therapist, explains that porn is crack cocaine to the soul. When people are bored or stressed, they self-medicate with pornography and its instant rush of pleasure, but often feel shame afterwards. In 2 Corinthians 10:4, the Apostle Paul urges us to demolish strongholds through divine power. That includes the stronghold of porn.

Jim Cress

Jim Cress is a licensed professional counselor, certified sex addiction therapist, and multiple addictions therapist. He is also a "Certified Daring Way Facilitator" with Dr. Brené Brown’s The Daring Way organization. For three years, Jim studied with and was trained directly by Dr. Patrick Carnes, widely regarded as the founder of the sex addiction therapy field. Jim specializes in treating those who have this problem, and also ministering to partners of sex addicts. In addition, he specializes in the treatment of trauma and abuse, and offers marital counseling, and experiential group therapy. He is currently the host of his own radio program, "Conversations of Life." Jim and his wife, Jessica, have three adult children and one grandchild.
