Jon & Marylois Gibson

Host: Dr. James Dobson

December 28, 2022

On today’s edition of Family Talk, Jon and Marylois Gibson share practical advice on how to have a marriage that lasts, having just celebrated their 50th anniversary. Throughout their relationship, the Gibsons have learned that love is not a feeling, but a commitment. Despite the fact that neither of them had healthy marriage models growing up, they each recognized the Lord had put them together and divorce was never an option. As they prayed together, the Lord revealed that the key was to serve each other. By putting the needs of the other ahead of their own, Jon and Marylois were transformed by God’s grace.

Jon & Marylois Gibson

Jon Gibson has been successful in real estate, having developed residential and business properties throughout the western United States over the last 36 years. His company, The Jon Gibson Company, has consistently focused on commercial projects. Recently, Jon has planned residential subdivisions to create over 2,000 new homes in the Sacramento Valley. The company changed its focus over the years from developing their own properties to the acquisition of existing retirement and multi-family communities in Idaho and the Pacific Northwest. Jon and his wife of over 50 years, Marylois, possess the hearts of philanthropists, and a passion to preserve the traditional family. They care deeply about helping "at risk" youth reach their full potential. Jon and Marylois are the proud parents of two children and the grandparents of seven. They reside in the Sierra foothills east of Sacramento, along with their horses.

Marylois Gibson graduated from Loma Linda University with a B.S. in dental hygiene. She served in this field full-time until she married her husband, Jon. After the couple moved to the Sacramento area, she earned a M.S. in nutrition from U.C. Davis while working part-time. Marylois has two children, which she proudly homeschooled and raised with Jon in a loving, Christian home. She continues to have a heart for young people and encourages them to realize their God-given potential. Marylois’ passion for "at risk" youth to reach their full potential has kept her active in the local church, where she teaches and works with young people and mentors teens. Marylois also serves on the board of Firm Foundations Romania, a ministry providing acute care to orphans there. Along with their two children, she and Jon have seven grandchildren.
