As wildfires continue to burn around Los Angeles, California for a second week, I’d like to offer prayers and condolences for the people affected by this unprecedented devastation.
My heart is heavy for those who have lost loved ones (as of this writing, 24 lives have been lost). Nearly the entire areas of Pacific Palisades and Altadena have been completely burned to the ground. Many have lost everything. It’s absolutely heart-wrenching, and we are praying earnestly.
We pray for peace and comfort for those who have lost homes and businesses, and those who have been displaced in shelters filled to capacity.
Thousands of people are under mandatory evacuations or warnings of impending evacuations. May God give them hope when all seems hopeless. May He provide strength to face their challenges today—and in the days ahead.
We ask the Lord to help and protect thousands of firefighters and first responders who are sacrificing their lives on the front lines of these dangerous blazes.
Even now, as new fires are erupting with unusually strong winds blowing in the region, we ask for containment and for the winds to subside. And we pray for much-needed rain.
May our great God move mightily to bring restoration to this fire-ravaged land and renewal to the trauma-weary people who have been impacted.
