The United States Supreme Court has announced that it will consider a critical abortion case during its upcoming term. Start praying now because the implications could be life-saving!
The case, Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization, involves the Gestational Age Act, a Mississippi law passed in 2018 that prohibits abortions after 15 weeks (with limited exceptions). The law was struck down in the lower courts, and now the Supreme Court has agreed to consider it.
At issue before the Court will be this question: Are all pre-viability limitations on abortion unconstitutional?
Unfortunately, this case will not provide the Court with an opportunity to completely overrule Roe v. Wade. But if the Court rules that laws such as Mississippi's 15-week limit on abortion are constitutional, then states can at least begin to take steps to limit the evil effects of that horrific 1973 ruling.
As Dr. James Dobson has previously noted, just a few short weeks after conception, a so-called "clump of cells" has "fingers and toes, eyes and a nose, a beating heart and a developing brain."
It is long overdue for our society to acknowledge and protect life at every stage, but a good ruling from the Supreme Court in this case would be a significant step in the right direction!
Oral arguments will likely occur later this fall, but it's time to start praying now… may God grant us a victory for life!
