In the years ahead, we expect that many hospitals and pediatric care facilities will face tremendous financial and legal liabilities as a result of irresponsible treatment given to minors.
The days of reckoning may already have started. A "whistleblower" at the Washington University Transgender Center at St. Louis Children's Hospital has come forward alleging that hundreds of children have been given experimental drugs that are causing permanent damage.
The "whistleblower," Jamie Reed, describes herself as a "queer woman" who is "politically to the left of Bernie Sanders." In an incredible expose published in The Free Press, Ms. Reed explains, "During the four years I worked at the clinic as a case manager … around a thousand distressed young people came through our doors. The majority of them received hormone prescriptions that can have life-altering consequences—including sterility. I left the clinic in November of last year because I could no longer participate in what was happening there… we are permanently harming the vulnerable patients in our care."
Because of Reed's public expose, the Missouri attorney general as well as other state agencies have launched investigations and promised they will move to withdraw the licenses of any Missouri doctors who have hurt the "health, safety or welfare of Missouri citizens."
We commend Ms. Reed for her courage. She has stated that she knows she is putting herself at great "personal and professional risk" by exposing the growing exploitation of confused children for profit by some in the U.S. healthcare system. We hope and pray her courage will inspire others to come forward before more children's lives are destroyed.
