Houston Texans' quarterback C.J. Stroud has had a remarkable year. As a player at Ohio State, Stroud set multiple records and was a Heisman Trophy finalist two years in a row.
Now in his first NFL season as a rookie quarterback, he led the Houston Texans to a winning season. After a post-season victory against the Cleveland Browns, Stroud was interviewed by an NBC sports reporter who asked what the moment meant to him.
Stroud answered, "First and foremost, I just want to give all glory and praise to my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ." NBC cut this strong expression of faith when the interview was posted on social media.
We all know that open Christianity in America is falling. Young people in particular are leaving the faith. There are a lot of reasons. But one reason is that there is a concerted effort by powerful forces in America—in education, in the culture, in the media—to put a lid on Christianity. Christians who talk about their faith are censored, while every bizarre alternative in the sports world is elevated.
NFL neo-Marxist Colin Kaepernick became a hero because he disrespected Christianity and America. The media elite were mad at sports fans who objected to Kaepernick's disrespect for our flag. But when a young black quarterback proudly shares his Christian faith, NBC censors it.
Imagine if C.J. Stroud had said, "First and foremost, I want to praise Allah," or "I want to say that I am a man trapped in a woman's body." There's no way NBC would have cut those remarks. But it's okay to censor his expression of love for Jesus.
Many Christians still don't realize how much our faith is under attack. JDFI is committed to helping the Church wake up before it's too late, and defending our religious liberty.
