Socialism Divides House

There are a lot of "tough" votes in Congress which good people can disagree on. But a vote last week condemning socialist tyranny has raised some serious questions about why 86 congressmen voted not to do so.

House Concurrent Resolution 9 had no force of law. It simply repeated the history of socialist regimes that "time and time again collapsed into Communist regimes, totalitarian rule and brutal dictatorships."

The resolution pointed out that "many of the greatest crimes in history were committed by socialist ideologues, including Vladimir Lenin, Joseph Stalin, Mao Zedong, Fidel Castro, Pol Pot, Kim Jong Il, Kim Jong Un, Daniel Ortega, Hugo Chavez, and Nicolás Maduro."

In fact, socialism has "repeatedly led to famine and mass murders, and the killing of over 100,000,000 people worldwide."

JDFI is glad to see the resolution passed by a vote of 328 to 86, with 14 representatives voting "present." All House Republicans voted to condemn socialist tyranny. But Democrats were split right down the middle, 109 voted for the resolution while 100 refused to do so, 86 voting "no" and 14 others voting "present."

The American people have generally opposed socialism, but recent polling indicates younger generations are more sympathetic to it compared to America's free market system. This is no doubt more evidence that our schools are not teaching accurate history.

A New Day Dawns in Washington

On the first day of the Trump-Vance administration, President Trump issued hundreds of executive orders. One asserted that there are only two sexes, male and female. In doing so, the president was merely repeating what the Bible tells us in Genesis 1:27: “So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them” (ESV).
