While her bigotry is obvious, the state of Washington has empowered teachers to deceive parents. The Daily Wire reports that the Washington Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction, that oversees public education in Washington state, has issued Gender-Inclusive Schools guidelines.
The guidelines state "school staff should not disclose information that may reveal a student's transgender status to others, including parents … unless the student has authorized such disclosure." The guidelines tell teachers to ask "transgender students which name, pronouns and gender designation should be used" when talking to the child's parents.
These guidelines apply from K through 12th grade. Thus, a parent of a five-year-old in kindergarten, confused about his or her gender, could have vital information withheld from that parent by a teacher.
This is, of course, outrageous, but increasingly, not unusual. Members of left-wing teacher unions, often graduates of left-wing universities, see themselves as "agents of change" who have a right to marginalize parents, while the teacher is engaged in indoctrination of the child.
JDFI urges state legislatures to pass laws prohibiting teachers and other school officials from hiding vital information from parents who are responsible for the upbringing of their children. Some pro-family legislators have already passed such laws, but sadly, in many states, so-called "progressives" are blocking this essential reform.
