Scholastic Corporation Goes Gay

Written by Gary Bauer | June 14, 2024

I still remember how much I looked forward to receiving every issue of Scholastic Magazine while attending public school in Newport, Kentucky. The iconic company that published the magazine was started in 1920 by Maurice Robinson in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. It featured articles on subjects of general interest to students. Over the years, Scholastic became a revered resource for teachers and students. In the 1980s, Scholastic Corporation bought up book fair companies and forged direct relationships with millions of students. It became a force in book publishing for children. Over the years, it has inspired the habit of reading for countless children.

Sadly, Scholastic has gone off the rails by becoming just another propagandist for the powerful LGBTQ juggernaut.

Its recently published "Read With Pride" is a resource guide for teachers to help them support LGBTQIA youth in grades K through 12. More accurately, it is a guide on how to indoctrinate impressionable children with the "queer agenda" (their word - not mine). Scholastic informs teachers that "queer" is an "umbrella" term to refer to the breadth of presumably 52 gender identities. The 12-page guide has been reviewed by Sarah Holliday in The Washington Stand. She concludes it "is full of extreme LGBT ideology."

Predictably, as Scholastic embraces the gay agenda, it is no longer an ally of parents. Sarah Parshall Perry, senior legal fellow at the Heritage Foundation, says the Scholastic Corp, "has vowed to use company resources to fight efforts by schools [and] parents to determine what content is appropriate for children..."

Doug Mainwaring, writing for LifeSiteNews, concludes that, "Scholastic is now an unapologetic ally in a political movement with deep Marxist roots that wields identity politics as a weapon of mass destruction, undermining and obfuscating timeless truths and upending immutable definitions about marriage, man and woman, boy and girl, son and daughter."

Parents are the first and most important "teachers" that children have. Now more than ever, moms and dads are called to raise up their children in the way they should go, in accordance with biblical truth. JDFI will stand shoulder to shoulder with you against neo-Marxist, radical secularists who have targeted America's youth.
