Scandal In The NFL

Did you hear about the latest scandal in the NFL?

Sadly, there have been many incidents of criminality in the NFL, including drug abuse and domestic violence. A Kansas City Chiefs receiver recently fled the scene of an accident after causing a multi-car crash. Reports indicated that he was also a suspect in an alleged assault.

The last thing the NFL and the Kansas City Chiefs need is another scandal. But they got one. This time the offense was committed by the Kanas City Chief's kicker, Harrison Butker.

What was his offense? He didn't hit a woman. He didn't get multiple women pregnant and failed to provide child support. He wasn't implicated in drug abuse.

Butker is a traditional Catholic who gave the commencement address at a Catholic university. As you might expect, he made several points about life consistent with his faith. And that caused a meltdown as Butker committed multiple sins against the faith of today's godless, secular elites.

For example, he urged the graduates to take pride in their Catholic college and values, adding, "Not the deadly sin sort of pride that has an entire month dedicated to it, but the true God-centered pride that is cooperating with the Holy Ghost to glorify Him."

Feminists went nuts because he said God made men and women for specific purposes, and that women have a nurturing responsibility in the home. He also said that men have a responsibility in the home to be dedicated to their wives and their children.

When he spoke about his wife, his voice broke and he teared up. Usually, the left loves it when a man cries, but I guess not when it's about the wife God gave him.

Butker also criticized Joe Biden for making the sign of the cross at an event where he was promoting the destruction of innocent children made in the image of God.

For all this, the NFL quickly issued a statement making it absolutely clear that no one should identify any of Butker's views with the National Football League.

Someone in the Kansas City government put Butker's address out on social media. Obviously, it wasn't so people could drop by and pat him on the back for his courage. Missouri's attorney general is vowing to prosecute whoever did that.

But there is a silver lining in all this.

It's proof that the radicals screaming the loudest are a minority even in 2024. That's why they're screaming so loudly. They don't want to lose their ability to dictate to us what we can and can't say. So, they really turn up the heat on people like Harrison Butker.

Thankfully, many people came to his defense, including Bishop James Johnston of the Diocese of Kansas City-St. Joseph, and famed Notre Dame coach Lou Holtz, who said Butker's speech showed "courage and conviction."

Another important voice defending Harrison Butker is Tavia Hunt, wife of the Kansas City Chief's co-owner Clark Hunt. Mrs. Hunt said, "Affirming motherhood and praising your wife . . . is not bigoted." Mrs. Hunt also stressed that, "raising a family together is one of the greatest blessings this world has to offer."

But that's not all. In the aftermath of this "controversy," sales of Butker's NFL jersey have skyrocketed.

Politics is important, but culture is often ahead of politics. There are encouraging signs that there is a reaction to the godless drift of our culture. There is a market for normalcy. Who knew? There is a market for the love of God, Country, and Family.

You just have to be bold enough to speak for it.

Harris vs. Trump: What Each Candidate Wants Most for America

We are now in the closing argument phase of the presidential campaign. Candidates are presenting their most compelling cases for why still undecided voters should choose them. Donald Trump is outlining what his second term would look like. He is pushing • tax cuts for working and middle-class Americans, • a secure border, • ending inflation, • energy independence, and • protecting religious liberty and free speech.

Inspiration That Could Save America

There is always an October surprise in every election, and we may have just experienced it. More on that later. The presidential campaigns are deploying resources and crafting messages to clarify the choice before us. Former President Donald Trump spent half an hour as a McDonald’s employee, effectively turning it into “Donald’s” as he served Pennsylvania families burgers and fries. At a rally in the same state, steel workers gathered around him and gave him a hard hat, insisting that Trump saved the steel industry. Then Trump showed his support of the American people by attending an NFL game. The stadium erupted in chants of “USA! USA!”

To Be Salt and Light, We Must Be Involved in America's Elections

The polls are shifting again. The race is still a toss-up, but virtually every poll shows former President Donald Trump with the momentum. Vice President Kamala Harris’s campaign has adopted a new tone. It started with a joy, joy, joy vibe. Now, the emphasis is fear, fear, fear. Harris labels Trump “dangerous.” Her surrogates compare him to Hitler. After two serious assassination attempts on Trump, this rhetoric could inspire more violence. Please pray for the safety of Trump and Harris.
