In contrast, President Biden and his entire cabinet are relentlessly pushing abortion on demand, including trying to get American taxpayers to pay for abortions that millions of us believe are the taking of innocent human life.
Praise God, we scored a victory for life in Congress just a few days ago as debate continued over the federal budget. Here's the backstory.
Last September, the Biden administration tried to allow money appropriated for fighting HIV/AIDS to be given to foreign groups that performed or promoted abortion. Representative Chris Smith (R-NJ), the co-chair of the Congressional Pro-Life Caucus, called Biden's plan a radical policy for integrating "sexual reproductive health and rights and, of course, that means abortions with HIV/AIDS work."
House Republicans just stopped the Biden administration and reinstated pro-life safeguards into the 300-page Department of State, Foreign Operations and Related Programs Appropriations Act to prevent taxpayer funding of abortions. The final vote was 216 to 212, mostly along party lines.
It is worth noting that before the vote, a letter from 131 African religious leaders and government officials was delivered to Congress, supporting the pro-life changes and urging the U.S. government to "respect our norms, traditions and values." Much of the developing world is horrified that the Biden administration is trying to push abortions on their nations.
JDFI applauds pro-life House Republicans for blocking the Biden administration and pro-abortion lawmakers from subsidizing abortions abroad.
