In the 31 years since then, Justice Thomas has been a strong voice for "originalism," interpreting the Constitution as the founders intended when they wrote it. There has been no stronger voice on the court for religious liberty and our Bill of Rights.
In 2022, Thomas was one of the justices who voted to overturn Roe v. Wade. He has also suggested that the court's decision in 2015 that authorized same-sex marriage should be re-examined.
In recent months, Justice Thomas and his wife, Ginny, have been subjected to a brutal campaign of character assassination. Well-funded left-wing groups have made unfounded accusations of ethical violations.
The charges are so "bogus" that all nine justices, including the liberals, have signed a letter condemning the smear.
In full disclosure, I know Justice Thomas personally. In 1991 I chaired the Citizens Committee to Confirm Clarence Thomas. He is an honorable man. These attacks are an attempt to take control of the Supreme Court and remove it as an impediment to the Left's desire to "fundamentally transform" America.
