Governor Gavin Newsom and a majority of California's state legislature have chosen a different path of "achievement." Newsom wants California to lead the nation in the number of babies that are aborted and how many children are mutilated by radical transgender surgeries without parental permission.
First, Governor Newsom proudly signed 13 new abortion bills into law. Taken together, these new laws make California an abortion "sanctuary state." One of the new laws essentially allows the killing of preborn children throughout all nine months of pregnancy. Pro-life advocates fear another new law is so vague it could even result in infanticide of newborn children. And, if that wasn't enough, the legislature and Newsom have set the stage to amend California's state constitution to further embed abortion on demand.
Governor Newsom is not content with only allowing the destruction of innocent human life by residents of California. He launched a billboard campaign in states with pro-life laws, urging women in those states who want to abort their children to come to his state. Adding "insult to injury," he used the words of Jesus Christ to justify his pro-abortion campaign.
Pastor John MacArthur, senior pastor of Grace Community Church in Los Angeles, publicly rebuked Governor Newsom for his distortion of Christ's words to justify "aiding in the murder of God's 'image bearers.'" We join in that rebuke.
But Newsom and the Democrat-controlled legislature show no signs of altering the radical path they are on. Newsom just signed another bill into law that will turn California into "ground zero" for the radical transgender movement. According to the California Family Council (CFC), the new law will allow children to be enticed to California from other states, regardless of the wishes of their parents. Once in California, these minors can receive life-changing, irreversible gender surgeries.
CFC President Jonathan Keller said: "By signing this extreme bill, Gavin Newsom is telling all parents across the country that he knows what's best for their children. Mothers and fathers in every state should demand their elected representatives push back against this unconstitutional assault on parental rights. Governors and legislators must defend their citizens from this out-of-control government in Sacramento."
