Marxism Versus The Family

"Abolition of the family! … The bourgeois family will vanish as a matter of course … The bourgeois clap-trap about the family and education, about the hallowed co-relation of parents and child, becomes all the more disgusting." -Manifesto of the Communist Party, 1848, Chapter II, Karl Marx & Frederick Engels

Karl Marx and Frederick Engels wrote those words in 1848. But the same Marxist philosophy infects America's powerful teacher unions and leftist officials at all levels of government. Communism was devoted to building a "New Man," and Marx and Engels saw the nuclear family as an obstacle. Today's Marxists still believe the same thing.

In the 20th century, whenever a nation fell into the clutches of communism/socialism, the family unit and the authority of parents over their own children came under attack. In addition, traditional Christianity was subjected to constant suppression and persecution.

For example, a communist regime was established briefly in Hungary in 1919. The communist government appointed an education commissar who immediately started instructing children in the schools about free love, sexual intercourse and the irrelevance of religion. Sound familiar? Hungary's parents were not amused and overthrew the communist government in only a few months.

The same battle is raging today. Prominent and powerful political figures have openly argued that parents should have no authority over their own children's education. Sexually-explicit material is being introduced into classrooms as early as the first grade. When parents or conservative elected officials object, the entire media complex and the Biden administration label them "book burners," "extremists," and "domestic terrorists." But concerned parents are not the extremists.

Emily Drabinski, the current president of the American Library Association, is leading the resistance to parents seeking reforms. She describes herself as a "Marxist lesbian." She recently addressed the Socialism 2023 conference and called for public schools and libraries to be centers of "socialist organizing." The socialist conference Drabinski addressed also advocated for the abolition of the family, the right of children to engage in prostitution and the radicalization of religious institutions, turning churches into advocates for socialism.

Many of those who wield power in our universities, foundations, and even in the halls of government embrace or are inspired by Marxist theory and ideology. This is the reason JDFI urges America's Christian citizens of all races and ethnic groups to join this fight to save our children and preserve America as one nation under God.

Happy Christmas!

A significant exchange of words occurred a few days ago between First Lady Jill Biden and a young American child. Children were at the White House on the occasion of the Marine Corps Reserve’s Toys for Tots campaign. Mrs. Biden greeted the children with a shout of “Happy Holidays!” One courageous child loudly responded, “Happy Christmas!”

Seven Critical Issues

JDFI made a substantial commitment this year to help ensure Christians had the information they needed on each of these issues so they could be discerning, educated voters. We also wanted to increase the number of Christ-followers who voted. We have been deeply troubled that Christian involvement in elections has lagged behind the participation rates of other demographic groups.
