Since Roe v. Wade was overturned by the Supreme Court, tens of thousands of innocent babies in America have been saved from abortion.
That number will increase as many more states pass pro-life laws. Last week, the Florida legislature passed the Heartbeat Protection Act, which essentially bans abortion after a heartbeat is detected (with exceptions for the life of the mother, rape, and incest). Governor Ron DeSantis immediately signed the bill into law.
JDFI celebrates this pro-life victory, but we are very troubled about the continuing trend toward violence and intimidation by pro-abortion advocates. We urge pro-abortion organizations and the Biden administration to condemn the unlawful tactics used by abortion proponents.
As Florida was considering final passage of the pro-life bill, pro-abortion advocates stormed the state capitol in an effort to shut down the legislature. In fact, the mob chanted, "Shut it down" and "No justice, no peace." Of course, there is nothing "peaceful" or "just" for the innocent baby who is aborted.
The pro-abortion demonstrators pushed their way into the gallery of the House in an obvious effort to intimidate legislators.
As the pro-life votes increased in the tally for the law, the mob started hurling garbage and projectiles at the legislators. The Speaker of the House announced a brief recess and had security clear the gallery.
JDFI commends Florida legislators and Governor DeSantis for passing this new pro-life law. Pro-life Americans, in and out of government, must not surrender to intimidation and threats.
