Vice President Kamala Harris told her cheering campaign staff, “When Congress passes a law to restore reproductive freedoms, as president of the U.S., I will sign it into law.” The pending legislation is an abortion-on-demand bill that would strike down every pro-life law passed at the state level. Legal scholars say the enactment would go even further than Roe v. Wade by requiring taxpayer funding for abortions and eliminating parental consent for a minor’s abortion.
In the same speech, Harris accused former President Trump of wanting to “sign a national abortion ban to outlaw abortion in every state. But we will not let that happen.” That is inaccurate; Trump has not endorsed a national abortion ban. He prefers that each state make decisions regarding the legality of abortion. He also opposes abortion with a few exceptions, including “when the life of the mother is at risk.”
JDFI continues to pray for the day when a future Supreme Court will recognize a “right to life” in our Constitution that protects all citizens.
