Our countdown to the election is over, and the results are in. As you know, this tumultuous election year ended on November 5 with a resounding victory for the Trump-Vance ticket over Harris-Walz.
The final Electoral College count was 312 to 226, and Trump is now winning the popular vote by more than 3.2 million. No Republican president has accomplished this since 2004. In addition, he enjoys a clear majority in the US Senate and a likely narrow majority in the House of Representatives.
Trump became the second president in US history to win non-consecutive elections (Grover Cleveland having done so in 1893). Trump’s election came despite a nonstop avalanche of negative media commentary and the Kamala camp outspending him by hundreds of millions of dollars.
The election results will have a tremendous impact on issues we deeply care about, including the sanctity of life, parental rights, LGBTQ ideology in schools, religious liberty, US support for Israel, crime, border security, and many others.
Dr. James Dobson and I have dived into the results, and we will share our analysis with you in a special Family Talk program in a few days. Be sure to tune in!
While JDFI does not endorse candidates, we conducted a major issue-education program to help with being discerning, active Christian citizens. Thankfully, millions of evangelicals, Catholics, and other people of faith voted. They rejected the advice of misguided “leaders” who claimed that neither candidate deserved their support. Christianity Today even published a guest editorial urging Christians to stay home on Election Day, the dangerous advice of which Dr. Owen Strachan, senior director of the Dobson Culture Center, astutely addressed. His response went “viral” (read here). America needs biblically informed wisdom and the participation of Christians now more than ever.
Elections matter!
The Harris campaign spent millions of dollars attacking President-elect Trump for his Supreme Court appointments, who were part of the majority that overturned Roe v. Wade. Harris promised a national law that would mandate abortion on demand in every state during all nine months of pregnancy. The public doesn’t support this kind of disregard for innocent human life.
President-elect Trump regularly attacked pro-abortion extremism. Notably, he also promised to end the growing trend of biological men “invading” women’s sports and violating girls’ and women’s privacy in locker rooms and bathrooms. The Biden-Harris administration was completely supportive of this attack on American females. Some analysts believe this issue alone resulted in many “swing voters,” evangelicals, and Catholics voting for the Trump-Vance ticket.
In this period leading to the January inauguration, important decisions are being made regarding personnel and policy. JDFI already has opportunities to offer the incoming administration our advice and counsel. We hope and pray that our nation’s new leadership will make significant progress in advancing faith, family, and freedom.
