Biden Out, Harris In

Written by Gary Bauer | July 29, 2024

The country just witnessed a historic act—a sitting president declined his party’s nomination for reelection. With President Biden out of the 2024 race, Democrats appear to be coalescing around Vice President Kamala Harris as their party’s nominee. But the delegates at the Democrat National Convention will make that decision in mid-August.

While JDFI does not endorse or oppose candidates for office, we do address certain issue positions, as with Kamala Harris’s stand on three issues of critical importance to us.

•    The Sanctity of Life — Harris appears to be more pro-abortion than Joe Biden. In the last presidential debate, Biden claimed he does not support late-term abortions. But Kamala Harris, who made history as the first vice president to visit an abortion center, voted against legislation that would prohibit late-term abortions. Harris has also opposed a bill that would require doctors to provide medical care to infants who survive abortions.

•    The LGBTQ Agenda — Kamala Harris fully supports the LGBTQ agenda and transgender ideology. As vice president, she has routinely hosted “Pride Month” celebrations featuring drag queens. Harris embraced transgender views by declaring her preferred pronouns and has denounced laws protecting children from transgender surgeries.

•    Religious Liberty — Harris has repeatedly undermined the Supreme Court—the one government branch that steadfastly defends religious liberty. When asked if she was open to packing the Supreme Court with additional left-wing justices, she replied, “I’m absolutely open to it.” Harris supported the Equality Act, widely seen as a serious threat to religious liberty, opposed religious liberty protections for Hobby Lobby and the Little Sisters of the Poor, and “co-sponsored a congressional bill to weaken the Religious Freedom Restoration Act.”

No matter who wins the election, JDFI will always do everything we can to defend faith, family, and freedom.
