Abortion, Borders, and Biblical Legacies: The 2024 Election's Moral Crisis

Written by Gary Bauer | October 03, 2024

Former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris are still neck and neck in the race for the White House. The Electoral College literally could end up tied.

Harris’s campaign continues to spend a record amount of money promoting a nationwide pro-abortion law, which would erase every pro-life law in all fifty states. In contrast, Trump continues to support the freedom of each state to pass its own abortion restrictions.

The group Evangelicals for Harris has launched a $1 million ad campaign against Trump that exploits, for the second time, the legacy of the late, great evangelist Billy Graham. The ad takes portions of a sermon Graham preached on the apostle Paul’s writings about the evil behaviors of men in the end times and uses them to defame Trump. Billy Graham’s son, Franklin Graham, is furious. He said his father strongly supported Trump and cast his last vote for him in 2016.

The border issue also continues to resonate in the election. The Biden-Harris administration issued a report admitting that of the more than seven million noncitizens allowed into the U.S. and not currently being detained by the government, four hundred thousand of them are convicted criminals, including thousands of murderers and rapists. A dispute over the exact numbers and the time frame covered cannot obscure the fact that our open border has been a disaster for U.S. citizens and migrant children. Trump has pledged to deport people who are here illegally, beginning with criminal aliens.

If enough of us, as Christians, vote to protect life, preserve religious liberty, and support a secure border, we will determine the outcome of the election.
