The Trump-Vance administration just conveyed a message supporting faith, family, and babies. The address directly challenged the culture of death and moral relativism that permeates our current sick and decadent culture.
The executive branch chose a national venue—the annual March for Life in Washington, D.C. Over 100,000 pro-lifers, primarily young men and women, gathered on the National Mall in the bitter winter cold. What happened next may be historic. President Trump and Vice President Vance delivered remarks that asserted fundamental truths that have been on the defensive for decades.
Trump’s strong message was broadcast by video.1 He began by saying, “Each year, Americans of every age, color, and background travel to our nation’s capital by the tens of thousands to stand up for precious little babies who cannot stand up for themselves.” He then made this clear promise: “In my second term, we will again stand proudly for families and for life.”
The crowd roared when Trump made this specific pledge:
A reformed Department of Justice will finally investigate the radical left attacks on churches and crisis pregnancy centers, and we will bring perpetrators to justice. We will get them to justice, one way or the other.
I will also end the weaponization of law enforcement against Americans of faith, and I’m releasing the Christians and pro-life activists who were persecuted by the Biden regime for praying and living out their faith. I just signed that document, and they’re being released.
Later, he added this hope and promise: “Never again will religious persecution be allowed to happen in America.”
These words are not just a matter of rhetoric. In less than two weeks, President Trump has pardoned peaceful pro-life demonstrators and ordered the Justice Department to investigate violent attacks on crisis pregnancy centers. He issued executive orders ending the Biden-Harris regime’s use of our tax money to subsidize abortion.
Vice President Vance reminded the crowd why they were there: “We march to proclaim and live out the sacred truth that every single child is a miracle and a gift from God.”2
But Vance went much further than the confines of the life debate. He spoke of our cultural drift away from family toward radical individualism:
We failed a generation not only by permitting a culture of abortion on demand but also by neglecting to help young parents achieve the ingredients they need to [live] a happy and meaningful life. A culture of radical individualism took root, one where the responsibilities and joys of family life were seen as obstacles to overcome, not as personal fulfillment or personal blessings. Our society has failed to recognize the obligation that one generation has to another is a core part of living in a society to begin with.3
Sadly, marriage rates are plummeting in America, as are birth rates. Both are deadly for our future. Looking out at the sea of young faces, Vance called them to embrace family and life. “I want more babies in the United States of America. I want more happy children in our country, and I want beautiful young men and women who are eager to welcome them into the world and eager to raise them.”4
Vance then linked the need for families and babies to the administration’s commitment to economic growth.
“Now, it should be easier—easier to raise a family, easier to find a good job, easier to build a home to raise that family in, easier to save up and purchase a good stroller, a crib for a nursery. We need a culture that celebrates life at all stages, one that recognizes and truly believes that the benchmark of national success is not our GDP number or our stock market but whether people feel that they can raise thriving and healthy families in our country.”5
Not many years ago, speaking positively about God’s institution of marriage while urging young Americans to embrace the future by bringing children into the world would have been noncontroversial. Today, the Marxist, secular left is triggered and repulsed by such normalcy. Basic truths have become revolutionary to ears that have heard nothing but lies.
JDFI is excited to hear the highest levels of our new government speak and so eloquently defend the godly values we uphold. We are reminded again that elections have consequences, and, as Christians, we must be in the battle to restore our country as “one nation under God.”
