2024 Presidential Race Heats Up: Early Voting in North Carolina and the Clash of Controversies

2024 Presidential Race Heats Up: Early Voting in North Carolina and the Clash of Controversies
1:45

Unbelievably, early voting in the 2024 presidential race begins this week in the swing state of North Carolina. The first debate between Donald Trump and Kamala Harris will not be until September 10. Harris-Walz has an edge in the national popular vote, while the more critical Electoral College tilts toward Trump-Vance.

Harris comes into this week after one of the worst weeks of her campaign. She unwisely got into an argument with Gold Star parents, who recently observed the third anniversary of the murders of thirteen Americans killed during the Biden-Harris withdrawal from Afghanistan.

Donald Trump visited Arlington National Cemetery to honor their sacrifice. Harris did not. She accused Trump of politicizing that sacred ground, and the outraged Gold Star families lambasted her.

The sanctity of life continues to be a flashpoint issue. Harris claims Trump is an anti-abortion extremist, as he wants each state to decide the issue for themselves. Trump says Harris/Walz are the extremists. He is right! They support legislation that strikes down every pro-life law in America and allows abortion all nine months of pregnancy.

Many pro-lifers want Trump to be more pro-life. Some say they will not vote. We are grateful that Trump's Supreme Court nominees ended abortion on demand. He deserves gratitude for that. Here is the bottom line: Life will be much more protected under Trump than the Harris-Walz administration.

The Harris-Walz campaign claims their theme is "joy." But with families reeling from high inflation, high interest rates, and fear of unsecured borders and a potential world war, millions of Americans are feeling anything but "joy."

Children were at the White House on the occasion of the Marine Corps Reserve’s Toys for Tots campaign. Mrs. Biden greeted the children with a shout of “Happy Holidays!” One courageous child loudly responded, “Happy Christmas!”

Seven Critical Issues

JDFI made a substantial commitment this year to help ensure Christians had the information they needed on each of these issues so they could be discerning, educated voters. We also wanted to increase the number of Christ-followers who voted. We have been deeply troubled that Christian involvement in elections has lagged behind the participation rates of other demographic groups.

Checking In on the Presidential Transition

We are about halfway through the transition period between the outgoing Biden-Harris administration and the incoming Trump-Vance team. Every day, President-elect Trump has been announcing appointments to key positions in his second administration. Those “personnel” will often determine policy.
